Carly Pope, born on August 28, 1980 in Vancouver, Canada, started dancing at an early age. However, when she discovered she had a passion for acting when participating in high school plays like “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and “The Odd Couple,” Carly’s career choice switched to acting. Carly and her older brother Kris Pope both began acting around 1998. In Canada, Carly Pope had been appearing on various TV shows throughout high school before she landed a role in an indie film entitled “Cowboys and Aliens” just a few days after graduation. When Carly Pope came back from Eastern Europe, where “Cowboys and Aliens” was filmed, she decided to move to the U.S. and pursue an acting career in Hollywood.
In 1999, just a few months after arriving in U.S., Carly Pope landed a role on WB’s “Popular,” playing Sam McPherson. Her performance on the show led to a Teen Choice Award nomination in 2000 and other career opportunities, such as spots in the feature films “The Glass House,” “Finder’s Fee,” “Trapped in a Purple Haze” and “Orange County.” Carly Pope won two Leo Awards – one in 2004 for her performance in “The Prosecutor” and the other in 2005 for the short drama “Sandra Gets Dumped.” In 2005, Carly Pope was recognized for her acting chops on the feature film “The Hamster Cage” and was given a “Women in Film & Video Vancouver’s Artistic Merit Award.”
Carly Pope has appeared on numerous TV shows, most notably on “The Collector,” “Dirt,” “The 4400,” “Californication” and “24.” While juggling a career in Los Angeles, Carly Pope goes back home in Vancouver when her filming schedule allows and continue her studies at the University of British Columbia. Pope speaks French, Spanish and Italian fluently and is still expanding her education in languages and literature.
